That commercial, created by Arnold Worldwide in Boston, first appeared last February and while it only aired for 4 weeks, it immediately caused a major consumer quake. The quirky, techno-driven song, “Gimme Back That Filet-O-Fish” combined with actors whose signature head bobs and sideways glances let the singing fish be the star, led to a significant increase in Filet–O-Fish™ sales over the previous year.

Gemmy’s “Frankie The Fish” features motion-activated movement and not only plays the original version of the song, but also includes a new club re-mix.

Riding the crest of that wave, Gemmy shipped hundreds of thousands of “Frankie the Fish” last month to such retailers as Kmart, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid,, Bed Bath & Beyond, BJ’s Warehouse Clubs, Menards, as well as many online retailers and, according to Jason McCann, President of Gemmy Industries, “sales have been incredible.”

“This has certainly made a big splash,” noted McCann, “and translating this star from the screen to the store has been an exciting project. The last time a fish became such a mega-hit was our ‘Big Mouth Billy Bass’ and we’re now already seeing that ‘Frankie The Fish’ is spawning a similar craze.”
